SALT PORK STEW
Dried carrots are semi shelf stable way of keeping vegetables in your haversack. They are great for enhancing a nice campaign stew.
If they are dried correctly they will hydrate and take up the normal shape.
PREP
Wash and peal carrots. Cut carrots lengthwise in to fourths and cut in to 1/4 inch slices. Then. place in a food dehydrator.
Remember that the smaller the pieces the less drying time it takes . Dry the carrots according to the directions that come with you food dehydrator.
On average it takes about 5 hours to try them out completely. Place the dried carrots in to a cloth ration bag.
COOK
To cook your dried carrots place in boiling water. As the carrots soak up the water they will cook at the same time.
The smaller pieces take less time to cook as well.
